Fall Family Festival at the Southeast YMCA

The Southeast YMCA partnered with Generation Wild, Solid Rock, and RISE Southeast to host a joyful Fall Family Festival on October 26. From the moment you arrived, the entire property was buzzing with activity, laughter, and neighbors connecting with one another.

On the south side of the building, the parking lot was transformed into a lively Trunk or Treat. Families lined up in their costumes, ready to visit each decorated vehicle. Every trunk was thoughtfully designed and filled with candy and small treats. The smiles were constant, and the excitement never faded.

Nearby, community partners shared resources and information, including Hey Neighbor. We had the chance to meet new neighbors and reconnect with familiar faces, all while talking about gathering, belonging, and building strong neighborhoods together.

On the north side, the fun continued. Generation Wild hosted a free Pumpkin Patch and Painting Station where children could pick a pumpkin to take home and decorate on the spot. Solid Rock sponsored a petting zoo with friendly animals like goats and turkeys that delighted both kids and adults. Representative Dr. Regina English even joined in, sharing joy and conversation with neighbors.

Vendors offered handmade goods and local products, food trucks served warm meals, and a cozy outdoor movie area invited families to sit together and enjoy the evening. Neighbors were also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support the community food pantry, reminding all of us how small actions can nourish a whole neighborhood.

Inside the YMCA, the adventure kept going with a Zombie Nerf arena, costumed characters for photos, and plenty of candy around every corner.

The entire event felt full of warmth, creativity, and care. It was a celebration of families, neighbors, and the everyday magic that happens when we create spaces to gather together.
