Pastor Mady Long and Outreach Apprentice Mac Conn both work with youth at the church and asked about service projects in the neighborhood. Since many neighbors of all ages utilize the park at all hours of the day, Executive Director Kelly Bull and District 3 Community Coordinator Maria Cordova suggested cleaning up litter where Spring Run Creek runs through Meadows Park and feeds into Fountain Creek. In addition to signing up for the Clean Up the young people also agreed to help pull weeds from front yards that have been converted into edible rain gardens.

Dwan first connected with Hey Neighbor through Neighborhood University, where she discovered a community committed to helping people build meaningful relationships right where they live. The message resonated deeply because it reflected something she had already been seeing in the small business community.

After 25 years of calling Newport Heights home, Michele Brown is still finding new ways to bring her neighbors together. When she saw a flyer about Hey Neighbor’s 150 Tables Across COS initiative at her church, she decided to host a Table of her own. Although she had never planned a block party before, Michele rolled up her sleeves and went door to door, delivering flyers and taping invitations to the neighborhood mailboxes.

Last month, our staff gathered at Stellina Pizza Cafe in Mid Shooks Run for a fundraising night benefiting Hey Neighbor. Ten percent of the evening’s proceeds were graciously donated to Hey Neighbor, and all four Community Coordinators were there to connect with patrons and share more about our work.

There's a peaceful kind of magic at 6:30 a.m. biking around Colorado Springs. I set out on Wednesday, June 24th, to join hundreds of neighbors for Bike to Work Day, my favorite day of the year! It is a citywide tradition that trades four wheels for two, even if just for one morning.

My first Table as a Hey Neighbor Community Coordinator was nothing short of neighborly. Although I didn’t know anyone in attendance, I immediately felt welcome by our host, Renee, whom I had never met before, along with her friends and neighbors.

Summer is the best time to be outside and to gather with people in the open air. It’s one of the reasons so many people have signed up to host an event with 150 Tables Across COS. When the setting is outdoors there’s no limit to where and how many can gather.

Hey Neighbor was highlighted agin for its push to connect the community through its facilitation of 150 Tables Across COS! This time we were highlighted in Springs Magazine.

We all know how it feels to have people show up when we organize something. It’s validating, supportive, encouraging, and fun. Participation is 90% of community building, and when we asked the Hey Neighbor Neighborhood Leaders to come out for a potluck at Mid Shooks Run park with us, they showed up.

We’re 5 planting parties in, and the Stratton Meadows neighborhood is starting to transform into an edible, beautiful, and water-wise oasis.

These are the stats for the Spring 2026 Neighborhood University, which wrapped up with a rousing graduation celebration on Wednesday, May 20.

Sue Sindler has lived in the same house in the Roswell neighborhood for 36 years, and she's never remembered a time when the area has felt so active and alive. What started the awakening? A neighborhood clean-up and dumpster, organized by Karen George several summers ago, that led to the formation of a Neighborhood Watch program, that just kept leading to more and more events. Sean Lohman was one of the neighbors who hopped on the train and started helping Karen organize. 

CENTRAL SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) Two neighbors named Matt who had lived on the same block for more than 20 years met for the first time Saturday at a block party in Middle Shooks Run. By the end of the afternoon, they had exchanged numbers and were already talking about borrowing tools and sharing craft beer.
