On a sunny Saturday in Meadows Park, 17 neighbors gathered for the second annual Stratton Meadows Cornhole Tournament, hosted by Hey Neighbor's Executive Director Kelly Bull and her neighbor Nikki Fetterhoff.

It started with a simple idea: help District 1 Neighborhood Leaders get to know their City Council representative and show that connecting with elected officials can be approachable, local, and centered on real conversation.

Week 8 of Neighborhood University brought an important and timely focus: public safety. But rather than a one-way presentation, the evening felt more like an open conversation where curiosity, concern, and connection all had a place.

For the second year in a row, Hey Neighbor screened the Emmy-nominated feature documentary Join or Die, a film about America’s decades-long decline in community connections.

On Thursday, April 9, 2026, Neighborhood University and alumnus Dave Vaillencourt put his NU experiences to work as the moderator for a Council District 3 Town Hall, held at The Sluice, a community venue in Old Colorado City.

These are some of the questions our Hey Neighbor book discussion group explored on April 9^th when we met to talk about The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker.

On April 12, 2026, Good Deeds Day, a global movement that brings together people from more than 100 countries, celebrated another year of impact.

Spring was in the air as the District 4 community came together on a record-breaking warm Saturday, March 21, 2026, for the Spring Clean-Up & Celebration at the Deerfield Hills Community Center. Powered by the staff of Deerfield Hills Community Center, Longmire Community Engagement, Hey Neighbor, Solid Rock CDC, and the Southeast Food Coalition, the event showcased the power of community pride and collaboration.

Laura’s impact has not gone unnoticed. Her neighbor, Joan Stangs, submitted a “Nominate a Neighbor” application through Hey Neighbor, recognizing Laura as a standout community builder.

Jane Jacobs was an influential journalist, activist, and author who lived in New York during the mid-1900s and championed community-based development and vibrant, walkable neighborhoods. The walk was led by Community Coordinator Heather Briggs and followed a 1.2-mile route that meandered from Switchback Coffee Roasters through Shooks Run Park and back.

On March 17th, as the spirit of Saint Patrick’s Day filled Dublin with joy and tradition, the teachers at Fremont Elementary School in District 1 came together for a Neighborhood Café hosted by Hey Neighbor and the COSILOVE School Champion program.

Hope Homes, a division of Revolution Community Center, has opened in District 1 at 2380 Montebello Dr, Colorado Springs, CO, next to Garden Ranch Park and Revolution Church. The center is led by Pastor Shane Farmer, who brings over 45 years of ministry and childcare experience.

The Spring 2026 cohort of Neighborhood University is officially underway, and it is already clear that this group brings an incredible amount of energy, curiosity, and positivity.

Latina women from all over the state converged at this conference to share their stories. 

The Neighborhood Leaders in City Council District 3 leaned into our belief that gathering with joy and fun, especially with food around a table, is one of the best ways to build connection with others.
