Fall Book Club: Join Us for Weave’s First-Ever BIG READ
Article Written by: Heather Briggs
This fall, we’re partnering with Weave: The Social Fabric Project to bring people together for its first-ever BIG READ, a nationwide reading experience centered on David Brooks’ “How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen.” From Oct. 1–Nov. 5, readers across the country will explore the book and practice the skills that help us see, understand, and connect with one another more deeply.
The BIG READ will begin with a kickoff event on Oct. 1, followed by weekly opportunities to connect around the book on Weaving Us, Weave’s free online community. Readers can exchange reflections, join conversations, and experience the book alongside others throughout the five-week journey. Hey Neighbor will supplement the virtual interaction with an in-person book club meeting on Thursday, October 29th, from 6-7:30pm at Home Cafe + Bar, 415 S. Nevada Ave, 80903. The BIG READ will conclude on Nov. 5 with a special celebration featuring David Brooks and a discussion of how we can carry its lessons forward.
We joined the BIG READ because we believe stronger relationships can lead to stronger communities, and we hope you’ll read along with us. For event details and the reading schedule, visit weavers.org/bigread/. Save the date to join local readers at Home Cafe on October 29th, and reach out to your neighbors and see if they want to read with us!
