Good Deeds Day is Coming! (April 12, 2026)
Good Deeds Day began as an international movement encouraging people to spread kindness and do good in their communities. Today, hundreds of thousands of volunteers and organizations around the world participate in this global effort.
Participants are dedicated to doing good every day, whether the act is large or small, as long as it improves the lives of others and positively impacts the world.
Good Deeds Day is about simple acts that make a big difference. Whether you help clean a corner of the neighborhood, share a smile, or join a group activity, your presence matters.
Join Hey Neighbor as we take part in supporting this global movement.
Ideas for Good Deeds with Your Neighbors
Here are some fun and heart warming activities you can share with your neighbors on Good Deeds Day.
1. Create a micro garden together
Bring a small pot, soil, and seeds. Plant something side by side such as herbs, flowers, or a tiny succulent. It becomes a shared project you can watch grow together.
2. Host a 10 minute porch concert
If you play an instrument or simply enjoy music, offer a short outdoor mini concert. It is simple, joyful, and memorable.
3. Create a taste swap
Each person prepares a small sample of a favorite snack, drink, or family recipe and shares the story behind it.
4. Build a neighbor charcuterie board
Each neighbor contributes one small item such as fruit, crackers, cheese, or nuts and assembles it together on a shared board.
5. Make a two person art piece
Bring a canvas or large sheet of paper and take turns adding shapes, colors, or doodles. It becomes a shared keepsake.
6. Offer a 15 minute fix it session
Help with a small task like tightening a hinge, replacing a light bulb, or organizing a shelf.
7. Start a little free swap box
Place a small basket or box between homes where neighbors can exchange books, snacks, seeds, or notes.
8. Pet photo shoot
Take fun photos of each other’s pets and create a shared mini photo album.
9. Good deed checklist
Create a list of simple acts such as compliment someone, pick up five pieces of litter, or help someone carry something. Families can see how many they complete.
10. Community pantry pop up
Set up a temporary table where neighbors can leave or take nonperishable food, toiletries, or warm items.
11. Neighbor recipe exchange
Neighbors drop off printed recipes and volunteers compile them into a small booklet.
12. Good Deed Bingo
Create bingo cards with acts such as wave to a neighbor, share a tool, or donate an item.
13. Neighborhood fix it brigade
Volunteers offer short help sessions with handy work, sewing, bike repair, or tech support.
14. Tool or book swap
Set up a table where neighbors can exchange items they no longer need.
