150 Tables - Hillside Buzzy Bee Gathering

Neighborhood gatherings come in all shapes and sizes. Hillside neighbors gathered for a large 150 Tables Gathering Across COS event in Memorial Park on Saturday, June 13th. The six-hour event included food trucks, local resources for families, bounce houses, and vendors sharing summer activities for kids. Jenn of Buzzy Bee organized the yearly Bee-Yond Family Fun Event and registered it as a 150 Tables Gathering. Buzzy Bee events were created by Jenn to connect families to resources, events, classes, crafts, and gatherings. One highlight at the event was the chess club. Several games of chess were active by players of all ages, both on regular-sized and giant chess boards. One father stated that his children loved playing chess and that they had been there a while so they could finish their games. Families had the opportunity to sign their kids up for sports, arts, STEM clubs and summer classes. A designated play zone was full of children playing in bounce houses and playing games.

This was the first year the Buzzy Bee event took place in the park. Many invitations were sent out and an estimated few hundred people attended. Jenn did say that a challenge of holding such a large event in a park is keeping track of the people in attendance. Since attendees were arriving from all directions, a precise number of people participating isn't available. However, this event was able to draw neighbors from around the city who happened to be at Memorial Park that day. This is a great opportunity for businesses, churches, schools, community centers, and other organizations to open their doors to neighborhood gatherings both indoors and outdoors.
