The Spirit of Giving in Pleasant Valley
This year, the Pleasant Valley Neighborhood Association put a meaningful twist on their traditional Christmas party by turning it into a gift giving drive for neighbors and animals in need of extra support.
On a beautiful December day with nearly 70 degree weather, neighbors gathered at West Moore Park for a community donation drive. Clothing was collected for the Springs Rescue Mission, while toys and pet food were gathered for the Humane Society. Underline Internet joined in as a sponsor and sweetened the day with some of the best cookies around.
The community showed up in such joyful ways. Neighbors arrived in cars and trucks, and some even rode up on bikes, all bringing donations and big hearts. By the end of the event, the team had collected truckloads of thoughtful gifts and delivered them to both the animal shelter and the homeless shelter that very same day.
What made the event especially touching was the shared recognition that the holidays are a time to lift one another up. Neighbors came together to care for those who need it most and to make sure our animal friends felt that love too. Thank you to the Pleasant Valley Neighborhood Association for your beautiful work and for reminding us what the Hey Neighbor spirit is all about.
